Drew Calloway = Color Magician

We worked with Drew Calloway last week photographing one his recent client's hair. Drew is producing some really smoking hair these days and decided it is time to start documenting it. Our model Rachel was a blast, I could barely keep up with her. Thanks to everyone's hard work and I can't wait to unleash these stellar shots. Posted a shot of Drew doing some prep work as well as a sneak peek below. 08061_043

We wanna meet you & and then take your picture

We are starting a new photo project. Has a simple concept, meet a new person and make a photograph of them. The objective is to photograph at least one person a week. No more than three. The idea is to get to know these new folks through their photo. We are giving the subject the freedom of deciding on how they would like to be photographed. On a real scale, trying to stay away from a big production. Really wanna convey something real about the person, to tell who they are. This project will go on for quite sometime, the goal is to meet around 150 new folks. This will be a great way to get out there and start networking and a sense of refreshment.
If you are reading this, what are you waiting for? The options are wide open. We can do anything you want, roller skate through the street, jumping on the trampoline, eating a hotdog, screaming, cutting your hair, just standing there, anything.. Who are you?

Amanda-sneak peek

I had a photo shoot with Amanda this morning. It was a last minute idea to go take some shots at this old storage facility. We got stared about 6.45 AM. She was awesome. She and Natalia, (whom I photographed a little while back) met me bright and early and were ready to go! This is a sneak peak of me going over the shot with Amanda, thanks for the behind the scenes coverage Natalia. Will post more from the shoot soon. me_amanda.jpg

•Carolyn & Josh•

We were in Charlotte, NC a few weeks ago for Carolyn & Josh's wedding and it was hot!! The temperature was 98 degrees with the good ole north carolina humidity in full affect. The ceremony and reception took place downtown, but the catch, is that the streets were shut down due to the taste of Charlotte (a festival where vendors take to the streets with their culinary skills) so we had to do a fair amount of walking to the locations. I looked at it as a "sweat cleansing". Take a peak at some of the images below->

website updated

Hey everyone, I posted some new images on the website. The photographs section, both 1& 2 and the lovestories section have been updated. Go take a look!

weekend+rain

I had a great weekend. Photographed Jean & Bob's wedding in Greensboro. It is not often that I get to photograph a wedding in my home town. It is great, because one minute I am at this awesome wedding and the next sitting on my sofa. Don't get me wrong, I love to travel, but it's nice to get a little home town flavor every once in a while.

We have been receiving a lot of rain here in NC lately, which is a good thing, because we are still technically in a drought. But this is a nightmare for my jungle of a yard. It is like Jumanji
out there. And to ice the cake. My lawn mower has officially called it quits on me. So I went to our home improvement store (Lowes) to purchase a new one and they told me to just bring my old one in and they would exchange it for me, even though it is over two years old. I was pumped to hear this.

I also spent this afternoon hanging out with my good friends Margaret and Ashby. They are getting married in September, so we took some cute photos of them downtown. Will post a few in the next day or so. Ashby
has a cool blog that he posts some of his paintings on. Go check it out.

And as most folks just wanna see pictures on this blog.. here is another shot from downtown Greensboro, its the old Bank and Trust Building, now used for office space. exposure f5.6 @ 60th sec

updates

Things have been pretty busy lately. Have not had a lot of time to post. I've got a lot of projects to go through and edit. As I stated earlier, I have been doing a lot of cityscapes and abstracts from urban locations around town. I photographed Whitney & Steve Logue's wedding a couple of weeks ago, and it was fabulous. Good looking folks, beautiful day, and an awesome band. Will post the story soon. In the mean time enjoy one of my recent cityscapes below. Exposure - f/8.5 @ 125th

Flashes of Hope

Earlier this week I participated in a photo shoot with Flashes of Hope
This is an incredible group, go check them out. The shoot took place at Victory Junction Gang Camp
and this place is incredible too. I can't begin to explain how much fun you can have there.

The photo shoot is a gift for the children and their families. Basically, some chosen photographers (I am honored that they asked me) are asked to volunteer their time to come hang out with some of the campers and shoot photos with them. The families receive the files on a disk as well as a leather portfolio containing images from the shoot. Really sweet gift, and a lot of fun for everyone.

What is also neat about this, is that this is the first time I have photographed kids. AND I WAS SUPPOSED TO PHOTOGRAPH ABOUT 50 OF THEM! I have to tell you, I was very nervous. Didn't know what to expect, nor what to tell them to do in the pictures. But it was a lot of fun, seriously, everyone was great to hang out with. Kids have a way of being themselves and I love that! I wouldn't mind hanging out with kids more often. Anyhow. I have posted some quick picks from shoot below-->
